Sunshine over Tokyo

KELLER Pressure has been represented by sales partners in Japan since 1985. KELLER recently decided to establish a subsidiary and on 1 April 2024, my two team colleagues and I started working for KELLER Pressure Japan K.K., the official subsidiary in Tokyo. This is an important step for future growth in the Japanese market.

After 20 years of experience in the pressure sensor business and more than 10 years of co-operation with KELLER, I was appointed as an official member of the KELLER team in Japan in April.

Ten years ago, I started selling KELLER level probes on the Japanese market. That was the first time I came into contact with my current employer. Japan's river floods are increasing annually and so is the demand for accurate water level probes. They serve as an early warning system and help to save lives. Compared to local water level probes, KELLER products have proven their durability even in harsh environments. Over the years, we have gradually gained the trust of our customers and I began to realise how much I enjoy presenting KELLER products to our customers.

It did not take long for KELLER to establish itself on the Japanese market and the brand made a name for itself as a symbol of precision and reliability. Japanese customers prefer a compact design and accurate measurements at a reasonable price. Thanks to satisfied customers, KELLER products can now be found throughout the country's industrial sector.

In my opinion, the customer is the best teacher. I know what technical and commercial advantages KELLER has to offer, but it is only through our customers that the sensors are used in a wide range of applications and demonstrate their capabilities.

But I don't want to claim that it's always easy. Customers come to us with different points of view and their own language. To understand what they are looking for, I have to listen to them carefully. I see it as my job to understand the customer's needs and offer them the best possible product for their application. With a bit of luck and, above all, good advice, this leads to continuous business.                       

The KELLER subsidiary is located on the 57th floor of the Sunshine 60 skyscraper in Ikebukuro – a trendy and well-known neighbourhood in Japan's capital Tokyo. The building offers almost everything you need: restaurants, shops, a post office and even a hotel. It is the perfect place for shopping and sightseeing. The Sunshine Building is 240 metres high and one of Ikebukuro's landmarks. On sunny days, we can see Mount Fuji, 150 kilometres away. If you have the opportunity to visit Tokyo, I highly recommend you visit this place and us.

My parents brought me here once when I was a small child. I could never have imagined that I would one day work in this building. My team colleagues and I really enjoy working in this wonderful environment.

From now on, as the KELLER subsidiary in Japan, we will let the sun shine on the heads of current and future customers from the fifty-seventh floor of the Sunshine Building and look forward to establishing Swiss quality on the Japanese market.
